Description:
Daegu University, the museum promotion committee, opened the museum at the professional college building(165m2) in Daemyeong-dong campus in Daegu. The museum was approved as a university museum in May 1981, and was added to the building of Daem- yeong-dong Campus (2,479m2) in 1985. In 1993, the university moved the museum to a five-story building Gyeongsan Campus (2,880m2).

The museum was appointed as ‘The Surface Survey Institute for Buried Cultural Properties’ by the Cultural Properties Administration in 1999, and was registered ‘A Class I Museum’ by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 2000.

Since it opened, the museum has consistently collected cultural exhibits in the areas of archeology, history, folklore and anthropology, performed academic surveys such as surface surveys and excavations, and collected data for domestic and international education and research. Based on data collected so far, the museum publishes academic survey reports, holds special exhibitions and cultural properties explorations with rubbed copy exhibitions to fulfill its role as a cultural space and a research institute.
