Description: The Pukyong National University Museum was opened on May 24, 1984, by reconstructing architecture previously designated the University Library. The Museum, with a space of 1,295 square meters, has five exhibition rooms. It houses some 1,732 collections in total. The collection has been classified and arranged in three general parts, and covers marine materials including fish specimens, fishing gear, ship models, and excavated relics as well as data relating to the University"s history. The excavated relics are comprised of stone tools, pottery and porcelain spanning the greater part of human prehistory from the appearance of humankind to the earliest age when humans attempted to make fine metal goods. Of special interest is a human bone from the Neolithic Age which is unique -- it is the only to have been unearthed in Korea. Of late, the University Museum has drawn over 10,000 visitors a year. This number is steadily increasing.
