Description:
Sookmyung Women's University Museum opened on June 10, 1971 with about 300 articles from Sookmyung Women's University's collection. Museum's collection focuses on culture, art, archaeology, anthropology, ethnology, and especially on items related to women's history. SMWU has been continuously collecting and preserving historical and cultural artifacts. In addition, in order to strengthen its educational function, the museum established the'Museum Education Center' in 1984. A generous endowment of university alumni, Kyongae Kim ( in 1995) funded the construction of a new museum in the center of Sookmyung Renaissance Plaza in 2003 . The present museum opened on May 11, 2004 with main exhibition, donor exhibition, and modern art exhibition halls.
