Description:
Seven years after its closure, Soongsil University in Seoul has recently reopened its museum fully devoted to displaying items related to Christianity. Until it closed in 1997, it had been the largest Christian museum of its kind in Korea. The new museum presents a total of 1,000 items including a precious cross excavated in Gyeongju in the 7th century, sculptures, and books, including “The Pilgrim's Progress” originally written by Bunyan and translated into Korean in the late 19th century. The museum also holds a total of 14 National Treasure-level relics including a bronze mirror with designs (National Treasure No. 231). The museum first opened when the late professor Kim Yangseon donated his personal collections in 1967.
