Description:
Since it's opening in May, 1992, Chosun University Museum has led the collection and study of data related to the history and traditional cultures of the local regions. The museum has also provided a space for sharing the history and the culture of the Honam area by exhibiting cultural artifacts, developing and operating community education programs. Further, the museum continuously provides the public with opportunities to experience history through lectures, special seminars, and excavation site exploration programs.

The museum preserves various artifacts from the palaeolithic age to the Joseon Era through excavation surveys at different historical sites including the Jungnae-ri and Wolpyeong site in Suncheon and Jingeuneul site in Jinan. Of the artifacts preserved by the museum, those from the palaeolithic age are the most abundant. With the artifacts from Jungna-ri and Wolpyeong, Suncheon has emerged as a significant site for studying the palaeolithic age of Northeast Asia.

The museum will continue to excavate and study the history and culture of this region to contribute to the growth of the cultural industry.
