Description:
Jagiellonian University Museum is located in Collegium Maius - the oldest building of the University. Jagiellonian University Museum houses following collections:

I. Collection of scientific instruments / about 2 200 items/ including: the astronomical instruments from the period of Copernicus study in Cracow until the 19th century that belonged to the University Astronomical Observatory; low temperature instruments / c. 1880 - 1915/ designed and used by Karol Olszewski to liquefy air in 1883; chemical glass collection of alembics, retorts, pelican and other from the 18th till early 20th century; surveying instruments from the 17th until early 20th century; physics instruments from the 19th century; metrological instruments, the 18th- 20the century. II. Art history collection including: portraits of the University professors from the 16th until nowadays; wooden sculptures the 15th -16th century; items connected with the professors and the history of the Jagiellonian University. There are another scientific collections at the Jagiellonian University that belong to the particular Departments of the University as follow: Zoological Museum - Botanic Garden and Museum - Pharmacy Museum - Museum of History of Medicine - Geological Museum - Antropology Museum
