Description: Situated beneath the imposing heights of the Acropolis, the Museum is housed in one of the most celebrated of Athens’ older buildings, the Kleanthes Residence, more commonly known today as the ‘Old University’, which, between 1837 and 1841, served as the home of the newly established university of the independent Greek State. The Museum was inaugurated in 1987 and the varied nature of its collections allows the visitor to enjoy the fascinating world of science, art and history. On display the visitor will see old and rare book editions, portraits of the University’s professors, manuscripts, diplomas, old scientific instruments of Medicine, Physics, Chemistry and Pharmacology, and various University memorabilia.
