Description:
The Print Room of the Warsaw University Library is the oldest public collection in Poland (established in 1818) and one of the most important collection of this kind in Poland, until the World War II also the biggest (lost 60%).

Old Master Prints (European schools 15-18th c.; in Poland the biggest collection of A. Durer, Kleinmeisters, Rembrandt, school of Marcantonio Raimondi, and 16th c. Italian chiaroscuro woodcuts; graphic school of Rubens; 18th c. French and English colour engravings), Old Master Drawings (European schools 15-18th c., e.g. P. Bril, P. Stevens, D. Vinckeboons, R. Savery, Rembrandt and his school, Rubens, J. Jordaens, van Goyen, W. Schellincks; G. Vasari, Perino del Vaga, Francesco Salviati, Pietro da Cortona, A. Allori, B. Passarotti, A. Tempesta, G.B. Grimaldi; M.A. Corneille, Ch. Natoir, F. Boucher, J.-H. Fragonard, J.H. Roos, F.A.A. Lohrmann, J.P. Hackert), Architectural Drawings (17-19th c., mainly Polish and European artists active in Poland, e.g. Tilman von Gameren - the unique near complete archive of 17th c. architect in Europe, c. 10000 designs; Victor Louis, Jean-Baptiste Prieur, Jean-Baptiste Pillement, Efraim Schroeger, Jan Chrystian Kamsetzer, Domenico Merlini), Modern Prints and Drawings (2nd half of 19-1st half of 20th c, European and Polish artists, e.g. Edvard Munch, H. Toulouse-Lautrec, E. Manet, F. Rops, P. Picasso, H. Vallotton, J. Whistler, C. Pissarro, W. Skoczylas, W. Pankiewicz, W. Weiss, Tadde Makowski)

the main part become from two historical collections: our last king Stanislaw August Poniatowski (r. 1764-1795) and count Stanislaw Kostka Potocki (1755-1821), Polish statesman, art collector, patron and theorist; also Henryk Grohman (1862-1939), Polish industrialist from Lodz and art collector

Art History Library over 11 000 vol. (includes books on graphic art and drawings, as well as artists monographs, catalogues of exhibitions, etc.)
