Description: The museum was found in 1974 by order of university administration, party and public organizations. Its first director was deserved doctor of BSSR Maria Vladimirovna Denisova. From the first days of its existence the museum becomes the historic - informational centre and the component of educational process, helps to raise love and respect to Alma Mater, gives the grounds of knowledge on the history of the university as the part of founding and development of medicine and Higher medical education on the territory of the Republic. It propagandizes the achievements of the university, its staff and students in scientific, pedagogic, medical and other spheres of activities for a period of 10 years. There are photo, video materials about the foundation and the development of the university since 1932 up to nowadays, theses, abstracts of theses, monographs, textbooks, training aids, prepared by the staff of the university, patents, certificates of rationalization proposals, personal things, rewards, collection items, albums of graduates, exhibits of cultural, sports achievements, picturesque portraits of the scientists of the university, panorama of students’ town, products of publishing activity in the exposition. The exhibits of the museum are the ground for creation and carrying out of the thematic exhibitions, one of them is situated in the Hall of the main building of the university. The main forms of work of the museum are excursions for students of the university and the listeners of the Faculty of Raising the Level of Skills of specialists. The excursions are organized for pupils and other visitors with the aim of vocational guidance. For the years of existence the museum has collected more than 3 000 exhibits, including photos, original documents of the history of creation of the university and departments, participation of the staff, students and graduates of the university in the Great Patriotic War (1941 -1945), reconstruction of VSMU after the war and its reform since 1977. Since 2000 the museum becomes the independent functional subdivision of the university.
