Description:
The Herbarium in Jerusalem represents and preserves the plant diversity of Israel and the East Mediterranean region, from Iran to Greece. The Herbarium contains about half a million plant speciments, including over 400,000 representatives of the plant species of the Israel and the Middle East, representative collection of the plants of the world, collections of historical value, such as the Aaron Aharonson Herbarium, and the collection of the wild relatives of the major cultivated species, and authentic material, i.e. "type speciments". An integral part of the herbarium is its library, that contains over 3000 books, about 1200 volumes of relevant journals, and a few thousand reprints. At present, two major projects have been initiated:

1. A National Center of Botanical Documentation, supported by Yad Hanadiv Foundation and in collaboration with the Jerusalem Botanic Garden.

2.Publishing a new edition of the Flora Palestina, together with the Israel Academy of Sciences.
