Description:
At the Nacional University of Colombia there are currently 25 museums and museum collections. Taken together, constitute one of the largest museums and a variety of Colombia. There preserve collections of science, art, medicine, natural sciences, anthropology, and so on. Those collections are the result of research and conservation work undertaken by the University in its 141 years of history.

The Nacional University of Colombia has based its model of management of cultural heritage in the development of a decentralized system of museums and collections, articulated around a Portal Museums, as a space for communication and collaboration between museums and their operators, as well as a common space to facilitate joint efforts, exchange experiences and optimize resources.

The Museums and Cultural Heritage System (SPM), aims to raise awareness of the heritage of the University to become, beyond the classrooms and laboratories on campus, in a point of meeting between teachers, students, academic and cultural institutions, social actors and citizens. Exhibitions, lectures, concerts, workshops and other activities are part of the intense and diverse programming that has provided SPM since it opened.
