Description:
From the passion for astronomy was born in 2004 the Astronomical Observatory of the University of Siena, at the university complex of Porta Romana, collects the instrumentation and the people in the nineties of the twentieth century founded the first structure in the Chianti region of observational University. Thanks to the invaluable contribution of the Fondazione Monte dei Paschi di Siena, between 2010 and 2012 that instrumentation has been substantially renovated. Currently the Centre is a laboratory where university students, but also those involved in the high school guidance activities, learn about the sky and how to use the tools and the latest technology for remote control of the observations and for the acquisition and the analysis of astronomical images. These skills allow then to conduct small research experiences in the field of variable stars and extrasolar planets
