Description:
This unique history museum was founded by the initiatives of the

founding dean of Gavar State University, PhD, Professor, honored

pedagogue of the Republic of Armenia Hrant Hakobyan and University

professor Varsham Avetyan. The purpose of the museum is to teach

about the motherland, history, archaeology, and patriotistm.

The museum houses over 500 exhibits, including valuable archeological,

ethnographic, numismatic, and artistic items, as well as documents.

There are special corners in the museum dedicated to the Armenian

Genocide, the Heroic Battle of Artsakh, the Gegharkunik Region and

the history of Gavar State Univesity.

The majority of the exhibits were gathered during five decades through

excavations, donations and through the use of personal means, by archeologist

Varsham Avetyan. Avetyan donated the collection to the

University, as a result of which, the museum was founded.
