Description:
Seoul National University Museum currently holds over 100,000 archaeological items of the paleolithic, neolithic, and bronze ages and some 7,000 objects of art and craft from different periods ranging from the Three Kingdoms (1C B.C. - 7C A.D.) to the Chosun Dynasty (1392-1910), which include rare old paintings, calligraphic works, china and porcelain.

In addition to these objects found in the Korean Peninsula, archaeological findings from the sites of the Kingdom of Balhae (699-926 A.D.) in eastern Manchuria and ethnographical material from Manchuria, Mongolia, the Arctic, New Guinea, and other East Asian regions, deserve special attention as they are extremely rare in Korea. The purpose of the museum is to contribute to the education of the students and faculty members through research into and the collection and exhibition of, archeological items, art and folklore from the nation's culture. Now museum covers archeological history, traditional art, anthropological folklore, contemporary art and natural history.
