Description:
1,000 macro fossil specimens including thesis material and several notable fossil suites including Reefton Devonian faunas and NW Nelson Palaeozoic fossils; Macro fossil Teaching collection representing most common orders/families of invertebrates; R.S. Allan Brachiopod Collection, 7,500 specimens (6,500 from NZ) including representatives of all genera known from NZ (living and fossil) and most fossil families known world-wide; Palynolgy Collection of 1,500 specimens of pollen and dinoflagellates including material from all major South Island coalfields; Micro fossil Collection comprising bulk samples and slides includes significant thesis collections; Brian Mason Collection of 2,000 specimens from mineral mines in New Zealand, Australia, Canada and USA and the Kinsey mineral collection mainly from Cumberland, UK; 13,000 rocks which are used for reference and teaching purposes.
