Description:
The Avian Science and Conservation Centre, formerly known as the Raptor Research Centre, is managed by the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at Macdonald campus of McGill University. established In 1973, constitutes, to our knowledge, the largest collection of birds of prey in the world. The colony is composed of roughly 350 pedigreed American kestrels. Field research is also conducted on wild birds. Some of the collection may be seen at the Ecomuseum. The purpose of the centre is to foster a greater understanding of the biology and management of birds of prey as well as other avian species through a multipurpose program of research and education.
