UMAC Worldwide Database of University Museums & Collections
Contact · Acknowledgements · Printed Sources · Web Sources · Disclaimer
The Database University Museums & Collections Worldwide aims at providing a global Directory of University Museums and Collections to be used by UMAC, researchers, students, and the general public worldwide.
This Database is an initiative of the International Committee for University Museums & Collections (UMAC) of the International Council of Museums (ICOM). It is being developed by UMACs Working Group Directories, which is collecting information about other existing directories, catalogues and inventories.
The Database is based on two major pre-existing databases of university museums and collections:
- German University Museums and Collections Database (Universitätsmuseen und -sammlungen in Deutschland), developed by Cornelia Weber (Humboldt University of Berlin & Chair of UMACs Working Group Directories);
- UMAC/Macquarie Database, developed by Peter Stanbury (Macquarie University, Australia, & Chair of UMAC, http://www.lib.mq.edu.au/mcm/world/menu.html).
Apart from these two databases many other sources are being used for the initial data collecting. And of course, there are a lot of people involved in this project.
